In Memory Of Douglas LaBelle

I knew Doug for 25 years.  He lost his life on 12/06/02, doing what he loved most, riding his bike.  He worked doing his next best thing, helping people who were injured.  He was a devoted father, son, and friend who was kind, considerate, funny, and hard-working.  He loved Daytona Beach.  The doctor he worked for said it all when he said that Doug was "the best".  "He could not be replaced."  He said he had "stronger work ethics" than he himself, or his own father for that fact.  Many stories were told, many tears were shed, many laughs could be heard.  A great tribute was given all.  On his behalf, and that of his girls, 'Toys For Tots' were given an extra boost this Christmas.  In lieu of flowers, contributions were for the children that he rode for every year.  I will never know anyone more caring about others than this man.  I am sure he is riding in heaven on wide open roads where there are no wrecks, just love and fun to be had by all! May you RIP and ride free in wind!  I hope to ride with you again one day.

my brother was killed in a cage accident 7/18/84. he rode a 77 fxe and rebuilt that ride all the time. he had his demons (drugs and alcohol and everything else) but he had a heart of gold and is missed sorely. I tell my son about his uncle every time he looks at my tattoo and wonders why I got "painted" I'll always have him with me. he was my big brother and my friend. forever young.

My Uncle Fred was the silliest shit around. Hence the name "Crazy Fred". Never saw that old man cry until my fathers funeral. They were both vets and my father had a painting of the wall and the war memorial of the soldiers that had a poem on it. I would like to share it with you because it made them cry and thinking about the 2 strongest men I have ever known it makes me cry, so here you have it:

"I went to the Wall because I had a feeling......
That one of my brothers was in need of healing...
I approached a man of incredible size....
As he turned to me I saw the tears in his eyes..
He could tell by my limp, and the scars that I bore..
That I too was a vet, from the Viet Nam war....
We looked at the names on that great granite wall..
Brothers to us one and all...
Men who had fought, and died by our side...
Standing before them with Reverent Pride....
Each poem, each patch, each picture as well....
Told the whole story of their personal hell...
We sat in the grass for an hour or more...
Talking, reliving our part of the war...
The Fears and despair that filled our mind...
The memories of friends we'd left behind...
He thanked me for coming to share in his pain...
Then he bowed his head and cried only once again..
He gave me his name and number to call...
And promised to see me again at the wall...
We rose to leave as evening fell...
I gave him a hug and I could tell....
That someday in the future he'd have a feeling,
One of our brothers was in need of healing....
"The Healing Wall" Author unknown

This poem meant a lot to my uncle and to my father both "bikers"
both VETS I share this poem with all of you that feel the pain of love lost from sickness old age accidents... what have you... just had to let you know about My Uncle one of the greatest men ever born....

In Memory Of ZACHARY  "BEAR"  CHARBENEAUX

Well Brother, your pain is over now.
Not that you'd ever complain.  You
looked death in the eye many times and
never blinked and this last time was no
different.  Bushman was there at your
side when the end came, as you knew
he would be.  I rekon Dennis, Preacher,
and MeanGene were waiting there at the
pearly gates as ya rode in, so I know you're
in good company up there.  You were
outlaw to the bone brother and ya made an
impression on everyone ya met. They either
loved ya or hated ya 'cause besides being big,
loud, and aggressive, ya always told the truth,
and that scared some of 'em.  All I can say
is your brothers always loved ya and had the
utmost respect for you, and of course not
much else matters in this life.  We'll miss
ya bro, but your memory will live on.

He was really happy to be getting his bike working. He had been working on it for a while. I think he died, the way that he lived, doing something that made him feel free, with little thought to the dangers. Before he left work that night, he told his boss, "I don't wear a helmet because I feel when my time comes that's my time". He is in Valhalla, now. He was descended from Vikings. I loved him a lot. I came on this site to look for a bike tattoo, I want one with roses. So if you have any designs, pls send them to my e-mail.

In Memory of Randy (Z-Man) Elliott

Randy (Z-Man) Elliott was my husband of only 1 1/2 yrs. On April 29, 2000 he was riding back to Tuckahoe M/C clubhouse and hit a truck head-on just down the road from the clubhouse. He sustained massive internal injuries and broken bones and was not expected to make it through the night due to internal bleeding and a massive pelvic injury. He was operated on and made it through the night but his chances of survival were dim. After undergoing many surgeries he lost his battle on May 16, 2000.Randy had a wonderful personality and a sense of humor that could make you laugh at your maddest moments. I miss him deeply. He may not ride on this earth anymore but he still rides around in my heart. I not only write this as a tribute to my Late Husband Randy but also to pay my respects to Tuckahoe M/C Purgatory, NC & Tuckahoe M/C Okeechobee, FL for their time, effort, love, support and contributions to me and my children and the benefit that they had started planning the day of Randy's accident that was held in June 2000. Also to all of the people who came out that day to show their support, I can't thank you enough. Randy was made an honorary member of Tuckahoe M/C and he loved them all and is missed by all who knew him.

On May 4, my 2 sons, ages 2 and 6, lost their daddy who was traveling to pay his respects at the funeral of a fallen brother.  This poem is their tribute to him, their hero, their guardian ANGEL now forever.

A Father's touch, A Daddy's kiss,
Two grieving sons, You're greatly missed.

An empty house, An empty chair,
A Father's love, no longer there.

Two broken hearts, tear filled eyes,
Another ANGEL to fill the sky.

Many memories in our minds,
Some we laugh, some we cry.

The times we shared, the laughs we had.
Things we miss when we think of you Dad.

Realizing that's all we have to hold onto,
Only memories.  Of what was once you.

Missing your laugh, we will never again hear.
This is the reality that fills us with so much fear.

No more smile on your face,
No more warmth of your embrace.

The last hug, the last kiss.
The last goodbye leaves us with one last wish....

To have you Daddy, here today,
Never to leave your sons this way.

A Father's touch, A Daddy's kiss,
Two grieving sons, YOU'RE GREATLY MISSED!

In Memory of Robert "Fess" Tumelty & Jay Bell

Two good men from Stockton, CA. lost their lives at the Laughlin River Run 2002. Most of the newspapers and television stations completely screwed up the facts of how these two men died. The only reasonably accurate account that I've read, came the from Las Vegas newspaper, which had direct access to the investigating agency responsible, namely the the Las Vegas PD. The TRUTH doesn't sell papers, and retractions and corrections were never made once the FACTS were finally presented. Fess and Jay were highly respected by all that knew them, and they are sorely missed by their brothers, family, and friends. This was evidenced by the biggest funeral that Stockton has ever seen, and most likely ever will. What a waste of life....R.I.P.

On 23 APR, the Viet Nam Vets M/C had lost a great Brother, and we especially in Alabama.  B.J. Williams was one helluva person and will be sorely missed by all that knew him and those who hadn't have missed out.  A Native American, and combat veteran, he suffered cancer from Agent Orange which slowly and painfully ended his life on Earth, but as spiritual a man as he was, I know that he is in a peaceful, comfortable place with no pain and riding the hell out of his customized '77 LowRider.   B.J., we miss ya terribly Brother, you have done more for us than you even know, and for that along w/your friendship, love, and Brotherhood, you will NEVER be forgotten.  Enjoy your current ride Bro., we'll see ya soon enuff...I know that the Spirits are REAL busy now!!  So break them in right so it won't be too much of a shock when we ride again!!

This is a tribute to a good friend and riding bud who lost his life on 12/6/01, Dennis Burke of Andover Massachusetts. He went the way that I want to go, riding on a sunny afternoon. I met Dennis through a charity that he and his wife Terry had started in memory of their 3 year old daughter Alli ,who lost her life to brain cancer in 1999. The event called "Alli's Rally" drew about 1000 Boston area riders last year. Even though we had great times together, I always felt a little sad when I would glance at the plate on his Heritage that read "ALLI". To Dennis, that plate was never a sad reminder, but a comforting one. Now my good friend Dennis and his little Alli ride together, I take comfort in that. Ride forever Dennis and Alli.

Karl "Big Daddy Rat" Smith died Tuesday, March 4, 2002. He was the founder of the "Rat's Hole Chopper Show" and local merchant for more than 30 years in Daytona Beach. He also took his famous "Rats Hole Chopper Show" to Germany, Sweden, Holland, and Sturgis, S.D. Karl, 74 years old, had been experiencing poor health for the past two years and died from a massive heart attack at the home of his daughter here in Daytona Beach.

I will miss Karl, I've known him for about 20 years, maybe more... seems like forever. I created his first website and then taught him to write HTML so that he could write his own web pages.
www.ratshole.com
He loved to work on his web pages as he did his "Ratty Rag" newspaper. He would call me and we would talk for hours about his web work.

One of my favorite Karl stories that I will always remember:
One day I came home from work and my wife was mad as hell. She had come home earlier and found some beer cans at our front door step. She assumed that some homeless beer drinkers had sat on our doorstep and had a party, set down their beer cans and stumbled away. I came home to this wild woman, mad at the thought that homeless guys are now enjoying our front door. Invading our good neighborhood. There goes the neighborhood. Well, I go out to inspect the scene of the crime and found 4 beer cans.... but they were "full" cans of beer. At closer look, they were "full cans" of good German beer. I came back in the house and called Karl and asked him if he had left the beer on my door step. "Yes" said Karl, "I came by your house but you were not home, so I left the beer on your step. I brought them to you from Germany." Every time he was on his way to Essen Germany for a motorcycle show, I asked him to bring me back some German beer. I told Karl the story about what my wife had thought and how mad she had gotten. Karl would always remind me of that little incident and we would laugh. My wife also now laughs at that story but she sure was mad at the time. I never drank that beer, it's still in my refrigerator. I'm gonna get one out and have a drink. This one's for you Karl.  I'll miss you my friend.

This March 1, my Brother Chuck will be gone for 9 years. He met his fate one evening, along with the other biker that hit him in a head-on collision. This happened on Rt 40 coming out of Daytona. Two Harleys, Two lives lost. I still think of him, and miss him. He was the kind of biker that would give you the shirt off his back, and help anyone that needed it. There are still bikers out there that remember him, and his name still is on top of the list at Mike' Friendly Pub in Homosassa, Fl.  We miss you.
